Benito Quinquela Martin

Born in Buenos Aires in 1890. 
He studied drawing at a night school of La Boca. He exposes from 1918. In 1920 he obtained the Second Prize of the National Salon. His works are at the National Museum and in foreign museums.
He has made numerous murals and ceramic of big dimensions in official public buildings and in private institutions.
Painter and engraver the Master is the painter of "La Boca" - Buenos Aires neighborhood-, where he enjoyed an extraordinary popularity. He began making portraits for the people , then he was devoted to paint topics of the port, navies and metallurgists.
He is one of the founders with Lazzari, Collivadino, Alberto Rossi and other, of the painting of themes of our city.
Benito Quinquela Martin died on January 28th, 1977.
