Lola Mora

1866
She was born in November 17th, in Salta, at that time province of Tucumán.
1887
She begins to study drawing and painting with Santiago Falcucci, in the city of Tucumán.
1891
Her parents died.
1892
She exposes miniatures in a kermesse.
1894
She exposes 21 portraits of Governors of Tucuman, they are purchased by the Province in 5.000 pesos.
1895
She travels to Buenos Aires.
1897
She travels to Europe thanks  to a scholarship granted by the Argentine government.
1898
She begins to study with Paolo Michetti and later with the sculptor Monteverde.
1899
She executes Bishop Toro's busts, of Mrs. Aráoz, of Juan B.Alberdi, and two self-portraits (one obtains a  gold medal at the Paris exhibition). She receives the commission for the monument of Alberdi in Tucumán.
1900
Again they ask for 2 embossments for the "House of Tucuman": one representing   25 May of 1810 and the other the 9 of July of 1916. She offers the realization of a fountain for the Plaza de Mayo and it was accepted . She travels to Buenos Aires with the scale models. She returns to Rome.
1902
A shipment with the marble pieces for the fountain arrive to Buenos Aires.
Her sketch wins the competition organized in Melbourne, Australia, for a monument in honour queen Victoria .
1903
Official inauguration of the"Fuente de las Nereidas" in Buenos Aires, on May 21st..
She is commissioned with the monument of Aristóbulo del Valle.
1904
She carves the monument of Alberdi and the statue of the Freedom, both for the city of Tucumán.
Inauguration of two embossments for the "House of Tucumán".
She wins the competition for a monument of Tzar Alejandro l, for the city of San Petersburgo, Russia, using the alias of "Tupac-Amaru".
1905
Bust of Luis Saenz Peńa for the Gallery of Argentinean Presidents in Government House.
She works in dependences of the National Congress, in Buenos Aires.
1906
Inauguration of the building of the National Congress, with two sculptural groups by Lola Mora. " Freedom, Trade and two lions" and "Peace, Justice and a masculine figure". She prepares the monument of Aristóbulo del Valle.
1907
Shortly before its inauguration, the monument of Aristóbulo del Valle was attacked, as a result the sculpture loses a arm. The autorities decides to remove that monument from the Lakes of Palermo where it  was located.
Her scale model wins the competition for a Monument to the Ladies of the Independence. She intervenes in the competition for a monument to "Agriculture" in the city of Esperanza, province of Santa Fe.
1908
Her work wins the competition for the monument of Avellaneda organized by the commune of that name.
1909
Her sketch was chosen for a Monument to the Flag" in Rosario, province of Santa Fe.
On June 22nd. she marry Luis Hernandez Otero and on the following day they leavel for Europe.
1912
She works on the monument of Avellaneda, with architect Oldani. The monument is inaugurated on June 8th.
1915
The allegorical figures were removed from the National Congress in Buenos Aires and were donated to the province of Jujuy.
1917
She separates from her husband.
1919
She executes embosses and busts for the mausoleum of the Ray family in Recoleta cemetery, Buenos Aires.
1920
She works in projects related with a film projector for daylight or electric.
1923
Inauguration at San Martin's Park of Salta, of the monument of Facundo Zuviría, originally destined to the National Congress.
The parts of the "Monument to the Flag" arrive to Rosario where they are left   unassembled at the Plaza General Belgrano.
1925
In September Rosario's Municipality cancels the contract with Lola Mora and the "monument" was dismembered, the statues where placed in differents parts of this city.
1927
Lola Mora supervises the placement of the Allegories and the Lions of the National Congress in diverse locations of the city of Jujuy.
1929
Inaguration in Corrientes of the statue of Carlos M. de Alvear.
1930
Inaguration at Plaza de Mayo in San Juan, of the monument of Laprida.
Lola Mora invest in mining, with bad results and loses all her fortune in a short time.
1933
A public subscription was made to alleviate her economic situation.
1935
A monthly pension of 300 pesos is granted by  the National Congress to the sculptress, then sick and poor.
1936
She reconciles with her husband on May 30th.
She died on June 7th.
1977
Her coffin was moved toTucumán, and she was buried in the House of the Culture.
