Ernesto Deira
1928
He was born in Buenos Aires, in July.
1950
At the beginning of this year he has got the lawyer tittle at the University of Buenos
Aires.
1954
It begins studies of painting with Leopoldo Torres Aguero , and after continue in 1956
with Leopoldo Presas.
1958
First one-man show at Rubbers Gallery, Buenos Aires.
1960
First International Exhibition of Modern Art, Buenos Aires.
1961
One-man show at Van Riel Gallery, where R. Squirru acquires a work for the Museum of
Modern Art of Buenos Aires. Together with de la Vega, Macció and Noé organizes the
exhibition "Another Figuration", at Peuser's Gallery. Granted a free scholarship
by the National Fund of the Arts, he travels to Paris.
1962-63
Diverse exhibitions of the Group "Another Figuration."
1964
He participates invited by L. Alloway in the IV Guggenheim International Award; collective
exhibitions in América and Europe.
1965
One-man shows in Buenos Aires. he exposes for the first time the"9 variations on a
well tightened frame", works in Libitum" 9 frames of 1295 x 130 cm. each one.
1966
Guest professor in the University of Cornell, USA, he realized a collective and aleatory
work of 8 x 4 mts with his students . Fullbright grants him a free scholarship; Second
Prize in III Biennial of Córdoba. He participates in the exhibition "The Emergent
Docade" at Cornell University and in the Guggeheim Museum.
1967
One-man shows in Buenos Aires and Santa Fe. Prize Palanza.
1968
He exposes "Uncoiled rolls", "El Taller"Gallery , Buenos Aires.
1969
Individual exhibitions in the Museum of Fine Arts of Caracas and in Buenos Aires,
Córdoba, Paraná and Santa Fe.
1971
Series " Identifications ", exposed in Buenos Aires and Santiago de Chile, where
ulteriorly will be destroyed to Allende's fall.
1973
"Imaginary portraits", Carmen Waugh Gallery, Buenos Aires.
1974
One-man shows in Brussels and Rome. Portfolio of 6 etchings "Pantaleón and the
Visitors", with text of Vargas Llosa, published in Madrid. it includes him in the
exhibition "Within the Decade" that understands the most outstanding works
acquired by the Museum Guggenheim in the last ten years.
1975
He moves to Europe. One-man shows in Madrid, El Escorial, Vigo and La Coruña.
1976
"Images of the Passion" in Buenos Aires. One-man shows in Bonn, Santander and
Gijón. He participates in French Salons.
1977
One-man shows at the Museum of Chartes, France; Spain and Sweden.
1978-79
He participates in Salons of France; one-man shows in Buenos Aires and Spain.
Biennial of Engraving of Puerto Rico.
1980
"White and colored paintings ", "del BuenAyre" Gallery, Buenos Aires.
1981
The Publishing Center of Latin America publishes a fascicle dedicated to his work;
inclusion of a self-portrait in the collection of self-portraits of the Galería Degli
Uffici of Florencia.
1982
Guest of Honor in Rosario's XLVII National Salon, participates in Latin American artists'
exhibitions in Venice and Paris. Selected as one of the 100 outstanding
figures of the Argentinean plastic arts, he is granted one of the prizes Konex.
1984
He obtains the Reward Fortabat. He exposes in Paris.
1985
He exhibit at Ruth Benzacar Gallery, Buenos Aires, and in the Biennial of San Pablo with
his former group partners.
1986
He died in Paris. Exhibition homage at the Provincial Museum of Santa Fe-
